Hello again! It’s my second day writing about honey, and today I want to share something super exciting: different types of honey found here in the Philippines. You might think all honey tastes the same, but guess what? Each jar can be a little different depending on where the bees live and what flowers they visit.
Forest Honey
The first type I learned about is called forest honey. Bees that make forest honey often gather nectar from wildflowers deep in the woods. This honey can taste a bit earthy and sometimes dark in color. When I tried it, it reminded me of a cool, quiet forest. It’s perfect for drizzling on my pancakes.
Coconut Honey
I also found out about coconut honey, which comes from bees that fly around coconut trees. Isn’t that cool? This honey can sometimes taste light and fruity. My friend mixes this kind of honey with yogurt and fresh fruit for a sweet breakfast. I think it’s a simple and fun way to enjoy tropical flavors!
Backyard Honey
Some beekeepers actually raise bees in their backyards—even in the city! That means the bees sip nectar from different flowers in gardens and potted plants. The honey they produce can have a mix of flavors. It could be floral from roses or herbal from basil and mint. It’s like a secret surprise every time you taste it.
My Tasting Tip
Here’s what I do when I try new honey: I place a small spoonful on my tongue and let it melt slowly. I pay attention to how sweet it is, how thick it feels, and any special flavor it might have—like flowers or fruit. It’s a fun (and yummy) game!
Let’s Explore Together
I’m so happy that the Philippines has many types of honey to discover. Whether it’s forest honey, coconut honey, or backyard honey, each one tells a story about where our bees have been. I hope you’ll join me again tomorrow for Day 3, where we’ll talk about how to spot pure and authentic honey. Thank you for reading and have a sweet day!
P.S. Have you tried different kinds of honey before? Which one is your favorite? I’d love to know your thoughts!
