How Honey Helps My Cough and Sore Throat

Hello, honey friends! Today, I want to talk about one of my favorite home remedies—using honey when I have a cough or sore throat. It’s something my grandma taught me, and I still do it to this day. Here’s how it works for me:

My Cozy Honey-Infused Drinks

  1. Ginger Tea (Salabat) + Honey
    • I boil slices of fresh ginger in water to make salabat.
    • Once it’s not too hot, I add a spoonful of honey.
    • I sip it slowly and feel my throat relax.
  2. Calamansi Honey Warm-Up
    • I squeeze calamansi juice into warm water.
    • I stir in honey, and then drink it like a soothing tea.
    • The tangy calamansi plus the sweet honey feels so comforting on my throat!

Why It Might Help

Honey is thick and soothing, and it can coat my throat. This helps reduce that scratchy feeling when I’m coughing. Plus, honey has natural properties that can calm and moisten my throat, making me feel better.

A Sweet Tip Before Bed

Sometimes, when my cough is extra annoying at night, I swallow a spoonful of honey right before bedtime. That way, I can rest more comfortably without coughing so much.

When I Really Need a Doctor

Of course, if my cough or sore throat doesn’t get better after a few days, I visit a doctor. Honey is helpful, but it’s not a magic cure for everything. It’s just a sweet, natural way to ease some discomfort while I heal.

My Honey Reminder

As always, I make sure I’m using pure, local honey to support our Filipino beekeepers. It feels good to know that something so simple and sweet can help me stay healthier!

Thank you for reading Day 12! Tomorrow, I’ll be back with another honey adventure. Until then, take care of your throat and stay sweet!
